QuickBooks 1099 Forms – Update for 2024
Starting in January 2025 for tax season 2024, we will no longer be printing and mailing 1099 tax forms as part of your clients’ subscription to QuickBooks Online Payroll or QuickBooks Contractor Payments.
What’s happening?
For your clients, year-end 1099 tax forms will now cost $4 per form to print and mail to vendors and contractors. We’ll continue to e-file on your clients’ behalf and send an electronic copy to recipients, as part of your clients’ subscription.**
This change does not affect your use of QuickBooks Payroll for your firm. As part of your firm’s subscription, we’ll continue to print and mail 1099 forms to your firm’s vendors and contractors at no extra cost.
What do I or my clients need to do?
When you’re ready to finalize your clients’ 1099s, simply choose how you’d like to deliver the forms to vendors and contractors. By default, we electronically deliver 1099 forms to any vendors and contractors for whom we have emails on file at the time of e-filing. However, your clients will need to deliver physical copies to any recipients that have not given written consent to paperless 1099s by either choosing to download, print, and mail the forms themselves, or by having QuickBooks print and mail copies for only $4 per form.
If you’re currently paying for your client’s QuickBooks subscription, you’ll be able to choose between paying for the print and mail fee yourself or transferring this fee to your client.
If you or your clients need to manage or cancel your clients’ subscription, sign in to their account as an admin, go to Settings ⚙ and select Subscriptions and billing.
